What a Chartered Accountant sign-off means for an India back office

17 March 2026 · TruVerse Middle East

When a UAE firm outsources preparation work to India, the quality of the review is the whole proposition. That review carries weight because of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the statutory body that regulates the CA profession, sets auditing and accounting standards converged with IFRS and ISA, and disciplines its members.

A delivery model built on 'prepared by an associate, reviewed by a CA' rests on that framework. The CA reviewing a working paper, a tax computation or a transfer pricing file does so against standards a UAE partner can recognise: Ind AS converged with IFRS, Standards on Auditing aligned with the International Standards on Auditing, and a code of ethics with real consequences.

For UAE firms the practical checks are simple: confirm the reviewing professionals hold ICAI membership, that the engagement terms describe the split of preparation and review, and that responsibility for the final opinion or filing stays, as it must, with the licensed UAE firm. The strength of the model is not cost alone; it is that the work is reviewed against a professional standard before it ever reaches your partner.
